Join us in Bexhill this Sunday (18 August) to help deliver leaflets to the 5,500 households in East Sussex County Councillor Simon Elford’s division (Bexhill South), calling on him to become a climate champion and agree to stop using local people’s money to fund climate change.
We will be meeting outside the De La Warr Pavilion at 11am and working our way around the ward until 5pm, with a break for lunch. Please let us know if you can help for all or part of this time by contacting Gabriel on 07596 483 272 or emailing email@example.com.
East Sussex County Council is currently helping to fund climate change by investing £145 million of the East Sussex Pension Fund in the giant oil and gas companies that are driving our current climate crisis – companies like Exxon and BP. Bexhill Councillor Simon Elford is one of the five East Sussex County Councillors with ultimate responsibility for the East Sussex Pension Fund. .
As Council’s across East Sussex (and the UK) pass climate emergency resolutions, we need Councillor Elford to become a climate champion and agree to stop using local people’s money to fund climate change.
As David Attenborough has stated: “Every one of us has the power to make changes and make them now. Our wonderful natural world and the lives of our children and grandchildren, and all those who follow them, depend upon us doing so.”
