Please take 5 minutes to send a divestment Christmas card to (at least) one of the Councillors on the East Sussex Pension Committee – the five-person decision-making body for the East Sussex Pension Fund (the local government pension scheme covering Brighton & Hove as well as East Sussex).
Despite over nine years of campaigning, the Fund still has tens of millions of pounds of local people’s pensions invested in the giant fossil fuel companies driving the climate crisis.
If you’re going to send a card to just one Councillor then we strongly suggest that you send it to one of the three who’ve been blocking divestment:
Councillor Paul Redstone (Cons, Northern Rother): Edgingtons, Cripps Corner; Robertsbridge, TN32 5RY
Councillor Ian Hollidge (Cons, Bexhill South): 79 College Road, Bexhill-on-Sea, TN40 1TN
Councillor Gerard Fox (Cons, Hailsham New Town): County Hall, c/o Democratic Services, West E, St Anne’s Crescent, Lewes, East Sussex BN7 1UE

Dear INSERT COUNCILLOR’S NAME,
Season’s greetings!
David Attenborough is right: “It’s crazy that our pensions are investing in fossil fuel, when these are the very things that are jeopardising the future that we are saving for.”
We hope that in 2023 the East Sussex Pension Fund will finally commit to stop investing local people’s pensions in these companies.
Best wishes,

You might also want to send a card to the two members of the Committee who support divestment:
Councillor Georgia Taylor (Green, Forest Row & Groombridge): County Hall, c/o Democratic Services, West E, St Anne’s Crescent, Lewes, East Sussex, BN7 1UE
Councillor David Tutt (Lib Dem, Eastbourne – St Anthony’s): 78 Ringwood Road, Eastbourne, East Sussex BN22 8TB

Whatever you do, please remember: always be polite – abusive messages are counterproductive and could be used against the campaign.
Why a card and not just an email? Emails are ten-a-penny, but if someone takes the time and trouble to send you a card then that has considerably more impact:
